You did an excellent job of explaining "riding the rails" in a concise way. Your powerpoint was easy to read and full of good information that gave me better understanding of this topic. The pictures were good additions as well. It was very well written and I learned a lot from it. You included lots of interesting points, you covered all the information I would have liked to know, which leaves me with no questions... so, overall you did an excellent job!
Throughout your power point you effectively used points on each slide to convey information, but did not overload too much information onto a single slide. This was a good strength for the appearance of the presentation. Although to improve on the appearance it would be more effective to use different backgrounds for different slides, and use more images to accompany the points being shown.
I was shocked during reading the product to find out how of the people riding the trains were actually teenagers, i never imagined that there would be so many of them. And I was left wondering how effective these bulls were as in the book it was portrayed that many of the hobos riding the rails rarely got caught.
Your presentation on riding the rails was very effective. I really liked your presentation and the information was very good and educational. I learned a lot about riding the rails and learned that it was a very common thing to do for poor people back in the 1900's. I found that it was a very dangerous thing to do and was sad to see that many people lost limbs jumping on and off the trains.
Although your presentation was very good, I would recommend having more stats about what percentage of people rode the rails and what percent of them were not harmed while doing it. I also wonder if there are anymore famous people riding the rails, as I find it is very encouraging and nice to see someone who was in extreme poverty make a good/great life for themselves.
Overall, great presentation. Your information was very good.
Really good job Kevin. I thought you gave a lot of really good information about your topic and I really learned a lot from such as when riding the rails started and what caused it to begin. I really think that getting beat for needing a ride in a hard time was a little over board. Overall keep up the good work.
This powerpoint was really well done, it was easy to read, to the point, and had great information about riding the rails. I always thought that only men rode the rails, but apparently that everyone rode the rails. The number of teens who rode the rails really suprised me. What I want to know is how many people lost limbs or died from getting beaten by the bulls or missing the boxcars. Great job on the powerpoint it was a great presentation with lots of great information.
I thought you did a really good job at describing how the rail roads operated and how the social code of riding the rails and how even teenagers rode the rails which I didn't know. It seems like you did a lot research on this topic and displayed it well.
Your classmates gave you the feedback I would. You took the information and presented it clearly and effectively. I like the connection to the novel, and I like the responsible research skills you demonstrated by citing your sources.
