By The Police

Just a castaway
An island lost at sea
Another lonely day
With no one here but me
More loneliness
Than any man could bear
Rescue me before I fall into despair

[Chorus]
I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my [x3]
Message in a bottle [x2]

A year has passed since I wrote my note
But I should have known this right from the start
Only hope can keep me together
Love can mend your life

But love can break your heart

[Chorus]

I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my [x3]
Message in a bottle [x4]

Walked out this morning
Don't believe what I saw
A hundred billion bottles
Washed up on the shore
Seems I'm not alone at being alone
A hundred billion castaways
Looking for a home

[Chorus]
I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my [x3]
Message in a bottle [x4]
Sending out an SOS

1.“I’ll send an SOS to the world” (5.2.14) ➔ ”But I will write again to Mantua.”
2.“With no one here but me, More loneliness, Than any man could bear” (5.2.23) ➔ “Now must I to the monument alone.”
3.“A year has passed since i wrote my note, But of should’ve known this right from the start.” (5.2.17-20) ➔ “Unhappy fortune! By my brotherhood,/The letter was not nice but full of charge,/Of dear import, and the neglecting it/May do much danger.”

I chose “Message in a Bottle” by The Police because this song explains the despair Friar Lawrence is feeling when he finds out that Romeo did not get his very important letter. “I’ll send an SOS to the world” is explaining how the Friar sent a letter or an ‘SOS’ to Romeo about the plan. I am comparing the ‘SOS’ or ‘message in a bottle’ to the letter that the Friar sends, like a simile. In the third quotation, the lyrics of the song explain how the Friar should have known something was going to happen and should have planned something else just in case.

By: Ed Sheeran

Oh, misty eye of the mountain below
Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls
And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
Keep watching over Durin's sons

If this is to end in fire
Then we should all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night

Calling out father oh
Stand by and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side high

And if we should die tonight
Then we should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last ime

Calling out father oh
Prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky

Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire

Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me

Oh, should my people fall
Then surely I'll do the same
Confined in mountain halls
We got too close to the flame

Calling out father oh
Hold fast and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky

Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me

And if the night is burning
I will cover my eyes
For if the dark returns
Then my brothers will die
And as the sky is falling down
It crashed into this lonely town
And with that shadow upon the ground
I hear my people screaming out

Now I see fire
Inside the mountains
I see fire
Burning the trees
I see fire

Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze

I see fire (oh you know I saw a city burning) (fire)
And I see fire (feel the heat upon my skin, yeah) (fire)
And I see fire (uh-uh-uh-uh) (fire)
And I see fire burn auburn on the mountain side

Youtube Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phJo1E94Yk8

The song “I See Fire” by Ed Sheeran is very much related to Act 5 Scene 3 of Romeo and Juliet. The first quote I have chosen from the story that relates to the song is where the chief watchman comes to the churchyard, and tells the other watchmen “The ground is bloody. --Search about the churchyard.” (5.3.172). The song and the play are foreshadowing doom and destruction. In the part of the song “Now I see fire”, the fire is the death and destruction.

My second quote is “Death, lie thou there, by a dead man interred.”(5.3.87) which related to the part of the song “Oh, should my people fall Then surely I'll do the same”. Romeo thinks that Juliet is dead, and has just killed Paris who was Juliet’s to be husband. He thought it was only right that he killed himself. The song implies also that if his people fell or died he would too.

I also found two more quotes which related well to the play. The first quote is when Romeo finds Juliet woefully exclaims,

For fear of that I will stay with thee,
And never from this palace of dim night
Depart again. Here, here will I remain
With worms that are thy chamber maids. Oh, here
Will I set up my everlasting rest.(5.1.106-110)

This quote relates to the part of the song “If this is to end in fire

Then we should all burn together”. In the play, Romeo finds Juliet dead and pulls out a potion and kills himself as well. The song explains that if this is to end in fire or death, which Juliet has, then others should die as well, which Romeo has.

The second quote is “One writ with me in sour misfortune’s book/I’II bury thee in a triumphant grave”(5.3.82-83). The quote explains how both of them have had bad luck, which is related to the part of the song “We got too close to the flame”. The flame would represent misfortune, so by getting too close to the flame they have had a lot of bad luck. The last line tells us about Romeo burying Paris in a great or triumphant grave. This quote relates to the line in the song “Confined in mountain halls”. Confined could mean being buried, as in a grave. Also, large mountains are already magnificent and beautiful by themselves, mountain halls would be a “triumphant grave”. This would represent where Romeo buried Paris.

And there ain't no way--
And there ain't no how

I'll never see that day....

[Repeat Chorus (2x)]

I'm keeping you forever and for always
I'm in your arms

The song “Forever and For Always” by Shania Twain, explains Romeo’s and Juliet’s fate in death;using the lines “For fear of that, I still will stay with thee,”(5.3.106) and “Go get thee hence, for I will not away-” (5.3.160).

The line, “ For fear of that, I still will stay with thee,” (5.3.106), Romeo said that he does not feel comfortable leaving Juliet alone with death; so he will stay with her, and it sends the same meaning in the lyrics, “ I can stay right here forever in your arms”.

Also, the line, “ Go get thee hence, for I will not away.-”(5.3.160), this line represents that Juliet will never leave Romeo and Romeo will never leave her because death will keep them together for all eternity; referring to the lyrics, “ We will be together all of our days”. In addition, the words “all of our days” refers to all of our days dead, and “I will not away” means both Romeo and Juliet will not be separated.

These lyrics and lines demonstrates the tragic death of  Romeo and Juliet; referring to both of these quotes use the word “will”; in which, symbolizes that they will be together forever. But there is a moment of satisfaction by knowing that they will be together in death, happily.

Lyrics: "I Miss You"
(I miss you, I miss you)
Hello there, the angel from my nightmare
The shadow in the background of the morgue
The unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley
We can live like Jack and Sally if we want
Where you can always find me
We'll have Halloween on Christmas
And in the night we'll wish this never ends
We'll wish this never ends

(I miss you, I miss you)
(I miss you, I miss you)

Where are you and I'm so sorry
I cannot sleep I cannot dream tonight
I need somebody and always
This sick strange darkness
Comes creeping on so haunting every time
And as I stared I counted
Webs from all the spiders
Catching things and eating their insides

Like indecision to call you
and hear your voice of treason
Will you come home and stop this pain tonight
Stop this pain tonight

Don't waste your time on me you're already
The voice inside my head (I miss you, I miss you)
Don't waste your time on me you're already
The voice inside my head (I miss you, I miss you)
[x3]

(I miss you, I miss you) [x4]

In act 5, scene 1, this is where Balthasar goes to see Romeo to tell Romeo Juliet is dead. But really she isn’t, just Friar John hasn’t got the message to Romeo in gime that Juliet was faking it so she could be with Romeo.

(5.1.51-60) Romeo talks about how he knows some poison to kill himself so he can lie with Juliet, he misses her and needs her. Blink-182 says “Where are you and I'm so sorry, I cannot sleep I cannot dream tonight, I need somebody and always” They’re basically saying, they need their love, they cannot live anymore without them and they miss them. This is how Romeo is feeling when he hears Juliet is dead.

(5.1.36-45) This is basically where Romeo gets really sad and makes a quick decision that he is going to kill himself next to Juliet's body. Blink-182 says “Will you come home and stop this pain tonight, Stop this pain tonight” They’re saying, they want the pain of missing their love to stop, so Romeo is going to stop this pain by killing himself, to meet Juliet in heaven.

I think this song fits perfectly with this scene, because i is all about missing someone. Romeo misses Juliet like crazy, now that he found out shes dead, he is devastated.

Capulet says, “Death, that hath ta’en her hence to make me wail, Ties up my tounge and will not let me speak” (4.5.32-33).→“I just can’t stand to see you leaving”

Friar Lawrence says, “Peace, ho, for shame! Confusion’s cure lives not In these confusions. Heaven and yourself had part in this fair maid. Now heaven hath all” (4.5.65-67).→“But heaven couldn’t wait for you, no heaven couldn’t wait for you”

This song is relating to specific parts of the scene and the comparisons are when Capulet says his first lines and he is in shock and is on the verge of crying. This quotation related to the lyrics “I just can stand to see you leaving”, most people would react the same way especially if it was their daughter that is “dead”. The second quotation compares itself to the song title ‘Heaven’ because Friar Lawrence is explaining to the Capulet’s and Nurse that it was Juliets time to go and that everyone will one day die and you cannot do anything to stop it.

And my love for you is better than diamonds
To you, everything I bestow

And tomorrow, I'll be dancin' on my own
And I'll need a kiss for my head that's achin'
And I'll be a hungry dog without a bone
Hoping my place with you's not taken

Kiss me and tell me, it's not broken
Kiss me and kiss me 'til I'm dead

And a crown of jewels for your head, now

For your head, now

For your head

One last night in bed for a time
Two more wishes and both are for thine
And three guesses, you're the angel's child
Four hopes that this love's not spoiled

Kiss me and tell me, it's not broken
Kiss me and kiss me 'til I'm dead

The song I chose is “To you I bestow” by Mundi. I believe this song describes the theme of act 4 scene 4 because the song talks about ones meaningful love to another who has left them behind. This relates to what happened to Juliet as she was left behind by Romeo who had to flee the city of Verona as the Prince banished him. The lyrics of the song states “I could be sharing someone else’s pillow”, this means that they are forced to love someone else which corresponds to the theme because Juliet is forced to marry Paris, even though her endless love belongs to Romeo. “Go waken Juliet. Go and trim her up. I’ll go and chat with Paris. Hie, make haste,/ The bridegroom has come already. Make haste I say.” (4.4.25-29) “And tomorrow, I’ll be dancin’ on my own and I’ll need a kiss for my head that’s achin’.” These two quotes correspond because both are explaining frustration and haste. Capulet had stayed up all night to prepare for the wedding proving that he is frustrated which is shown in the quote as he is rushing everyone. In the quote for the lyrics it says “I’ll need a kiss for my head that’s achin’”, proving that they are experiencing pain from frustration which therefore corresponds to the quote from the play. “Get you to bed, faith.” (4.4.7) “One last night in bed for a time” These quotes correspond because they both talk about resting before a big event in their life time.  The Nurse tries to convince Lord Capulet to rest before the wedding but he refuses as he is trying to rush the event.

Tell me how I'm supposed to breathe with no air
If I should die before I wake

'Cause my world revolves around you
It's so hard for me to breathe

Tell me how I'm supposed to breathe with no air
Can't live, can't breathe with no air
It's how I feel whenever you ain't there
It's no air, no air

Lyrical Version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61HRdUcJtXQ

For Act 4 Scene 3 of Romeo and Juliet I have chosen the song “No Air” by Jordin Sparks. This song relates to the play in several ways. Such as, in the play Juliet states “Shall I not, then, be stifled in the vault/ To whose foul mouth no healthsome air breathes in” (4.3.33-34) This quote simply explains how Juliet is questioning what will happen if  Romeo does not  come in time and how it would be like suffocating in a tomb with no healthy air. The song lyric “Tell me how I'm supposed to breathe with no air Can't live, can't breathe with no air” relates to the quote above because they both express how they can not live without air. The second quote Juliet says “What if it be poison, which the friar/ Subtly hath ministered to have me dead.” (4.3.24-25) This quote tells us that Juliet is wondering if Friar Lawrence  mixed the potion to kill her before she even awakes. To relate to the song No air I have chosen the first verse. “If I should die before I wake It's 'cause you took my breath away.” Even though this song may be for different situations the meaning is set perfectly. To recall in Juliet situation she expresses how she is frightened that Friar will kill her with the poison. As for the song states that if she dies before she wakes up its because of this person. Both stating that if they do die it is not there fault it is the opposing persons fault. ]]>

"I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston

http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/whitneyhouston/iwillalwaysloveyou.html

If I should stay
I would only be in your way
So I'll go but I know
I'll think of you every step of the way

And I... will always love you, ooh
Will always love you
You
My darling, you...
Mmm-mm

Bittersweet memories –
That is all I'm taking with me.
So good-bye.
Please don't cry:
We both know I'm not what you, you need--------> “Thou opposite to what thou justly seem’st.”

These are both related because Juliet is badmouthing her husband for three hours. In the song, Whitney sings about how she is not what he needs. This may also be referencing to how juliet is a Capulet, and Romeo a Montague.

And I... will always love you
I... will always love you
You, ooh

[Instrumental / Sax solo]

I hope life treats you kind
And I hope you have all you've dreamed of
And I wish you joy and happiness
But above all this I wish you love

And I... will always love you----->”Your tributary drops belong to woe,? which you, mistaking, offer up to joy.” These two are related because Juliet is showing that she is always on the side of Romeo. Therefore, the line “I will always love you” represents this as love also implies being faithful to your companion.

I will always love you
I will always love you
I will always love you

I will always love you
I, I will always love you.
You.
Darling, I love you.
I'll always...
I'll always love you.

Ooh
Ooh

I believe that this song is a great representation of the events that occur in this scene Due to how this song shows love, like Juliet towards romeo, and Tybalt. The other part of this Song was the whole Montague/Capulet argument where Whitney says that she is not what he needs.

By: Jason Mraz

Well you done done me and you bet I felt it
I tried to be chill but you're so hot that I melted
Before the cool done run out I'll be giving it my bestest
And nothing's going to stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some
But I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I'm yours
Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
Listen to the music of the moment people, dance and sing
We're just one big family
And it's our God-forsaken right to be loved loved love love
So I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I'm sure
There's no need to complicate, our time is short
This is our fate, I'm yours
D-d-do do you, but do you, d-d-do
But do you want to come on
Scooch on over closer dear
And I will nibble your ear
I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a new face and I laughed
I guess what I be saying is there ain't no better reason
To rid yourself of vanities and just go with the seasons
It's what we aim to do, our name is our virtue
But I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I'm yours
Open up your mind and see like me
(I won't hesitate)
Open up your plans and damn you're free
(No more, no more)
Look into your heart and you'll find that the sky is yours
(It cannot wait, I'm sure)
So please don't please don't, there's no need
(There's no need to complicate)
There's no need to complicate
(Our time is short)
Our time is short
(This is our fate)
This is, this is, this is our fate
I'm yours
Oh, I'm yours
Oh, I'm yours
Oh, whoa, baby you believe I'm yours
You best believe, best believe I'm yours

Lyrics: http://youtu.be/cl88QEll-Xc

‘’Open up your mind and see like me’’ - Romeo asks Juliet if she is happy as he is, and to tell him about the happiness she imagines in their marriage

(2.6.24-29)

‘’There's no need to complicate, our time is short’’ - Romeo and Juliet thinks that  they are ready to get married, they do not want anything or anyone to ruin their love, their time is very precious when they are together.

(2.6.3-8)

Act two, scene six is a short scene. This is where Friar Lawrence, Romeo and Juliet meet up to secretly get married. They seem very confident about what they are about to do. Romeo and Juliet are in love and Friar Lawrence hopes that their marriage will bring peace to Verona. Friar Lawrence tells Romeo that he hopes the marriage will turn out okay, and it may lead to happiness, and hopefully, they might not regret it. Romeo just wants to be with his love Juliet, and to call  her ‘’mine’’ and he will be hers. This song is about how Romeo and Juliet can not wait any longer, but to be together. He believes that Juliet is made for him and he is made for her.

This song is about wanting to hear someone say something but not hearing it, in this scene Juliet wants the Nurse to tell her what Romeo says. “O God, she comes.-- O honey Nurse, what news? Hast thou met with him? Send thy man away.” (2.5.18-19). At one point Juliet stars to get sassy with this nurse and in a way pushy and rude “How art thou out of breath when thou hast breath to say to me thou art out of breath? The excuse that thou dost make in this delay is longer that the tale thou dost excuse. Is thy news good, or bad? Answer to that. Say either, and I’ll stay the circumstance. Let me be satisfied. Is’t good or bad?”(2.5.31-37). The song is kinda sad and depressing and same with this scene. The song does not fit the best but works well.
